No Creed But Christ?

Growing up, I can often remember preachers using (and often shouting) the phrase, “No creed but Christ!” It was a rallying cry that was always sure to fire up the base… and traveling evangelists were always up for lighting fires back in those days.

At the time, I never really reflected on the phrase that much. I recognized that it was a shot across the bow of Catholicism and many mainline denominations, but that was about it.

It wasn’t until recently that I realized the truth.

“No creed but Christ” is… wait for it… a creed!

The lack of creed is, in and of itself, a creed. Click To Tweet

creed is a system, doctrine, symbol, or statement of belief. And we all have them.

What is yours?

Could you sum up your beliefs in a page? … what about a paragraph, or even a sentence or two?

It’s not as easy as you might think!

PRACTICE: Write a simple creed that best defines your basic beliefs, in a nutshell.
